Whether it’s for yourself, a loved one, or someone in your care, Driving Miss Daisy offers safe, compassionate, reliable and assisted specialist transport for appointments, outings, and everyday journeys, wherever the client needs to go.
From medical appointments, trips to the vet, social outings, and shopping trips, we help our clients live more independently with dignity and confidence, safe in the knowledge that our caring and trusted Companion Drivers are there to support them.
WHO WE ARE
Having spent 35 years in the motorsport industry, Ian Berry was inspired to start Driving Miss Daisy Guildford in 2024 by his personal experiences with family members who suffered with restricted mobility.
Based in East Horsley, we are a small business proudly serving our community, with a collection area that stretches from Guildford to Oxshott to Leatherhead to Dorking, and everywhere in between.
Our four Companion Drivers (two male, two female) are all fully licenced by Guildford Borough Council, having undergone enhanced DBS checks and been trained in disability awareness, dementia awareness, safeguarding, wheelchair handling and emergency first aid.
Our fleet of three modern, wheelchair-accessible vehicles (WAVs) can each accommodate one wheelchair passenger plus up to four seated passengers. Each vehicle is licensed by Guildford Borough Council, carefully maintained and fitted with automatic internal CCTV for client peace of mind
HOW WE DIFFER FROM A TAXI
A taxi simply takes you from one place to another, but Driving Miss Daisy Guildford offers something very different. We provide a door-through-door Companion Driving service, tailored to each client’s needs and built on care, respect, and understanding.
Our Companion Drivers take the time to safely assist clients from their homes into our vehicle, ensuring they’re comfortable throughout the journey, and assist them from the vehicle into their destination. When required, we can remain with clients during appointments or outings, offering reassurance and practical help every step of the way.
Unlike standard taxis, our service is designed to accommodate clients who use wheelchairs or mobility aids, or who travel with pets, ensuring everyone can get where they need to go safely and comfortably.

WORKING WITH CARE HOMES AND OTHER CARE ESTABLISHMENTS
We understand that care homes have a duty of care to their residents to make sure they are transported to appointments in a timely and safe manner.
Driving Miss Daisy Guildford is a trusted provider of specialist assisted transport for many of the care homes in the area, including Liberham Lodge, Ashley Park, Dene Place, Cedar Court, Deep Dene, Limegrove and many others. We also work with other establishments such as Cherry Trees and QEF.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Every journey is unique, so we provide personalised quotes based on the service required, time and mileage. We’re always happy to talk through your needs and give a clear idea of costs before you book.
We’ll email you an invoice after the trip and ask that you make payment by bank transfer within 7 days. But, if that’s tricky, we’re happy to discuss alternative payment methods such as card or cheque.
Yes, all our vehicles are wheelchair accessible. If you’re unsure, feel free to send us a photo so we can double-check. If we are still unsure, we could arrange a visit to test the wheelchair size.
Absolutely. We’re happy to accompany you for support and reassurance. With your permission, we can also take notes and email them to you or your family afterwards.
Yes we do, just let us know where you’d like to go, and we’ll check availability.
Yes, we currently have two female drivers, with a third in training.
We understand plans can change. For shorter bookings, there’s usually no charge. For longer bookings (3+ hours), our cancellation policy is:
- More than 48 hours notice – no charge
- Less than 48 hours notice – 50% of the agreed cost
- Less than 24 hours notice – 75% of the agreed cost
(Waiting time isn’t included in cancellation charges.)
To help us plan your journey smoothly, we’ll need:
- Collection and destination addresses and postcodes
- Appointment time at the destination
- One-way or return trip
- Reason for trip and estimated waiting time (if applicable)
- Whether a wheelchair is used or needed
- Whether the client will be accompanied
- If support is needed during the appointment
- Client’s contact details
