From Devoted Nurse To A Caring Entrepeneur

Driving Miss Daisy Central Hull is celebrating its first anniversary, marking a year of empowering individuals with limited mobility.

Louise, the Central Hull branch owner, shares her inspiring journey from a frontline nurse to a passionate business owner.

Where it all began

Louise’s journey began two years ago, when driven by her 30 year nursing career, she wanted to continue to help people in her community whilst making and achieving her own goals.

“I really wanted to enable people to overcome obstacles and have the confidence to make meaningful choices while they still could” Louise recalls.

Discovering Driving Miss Daisy

Despite having a vision, Louise was unsure where to start. In January 2023, she discovered Driving Miss Daisy, a reputable transportation service that shared her vision and values. Louise found the perfect starting point for her venture amd was excited to collaborate with a compnay that aligned with her goals.

“The Driving Miss Daisy franchise model was perfect for providing both the means and mode to realise my vision, and make it a reality.”

The service goes beyond mere transportation, it supports clients with shopping trips, medical appointments, social events, and more, allowing clients to travel wherever they need to while enhancing their lives through meaningful interactions.

“After six months of preparation, training, licensing and vehicle sourcing, I successfully launched in July 2023,”  Louise explained.

Louise proudly expresses how her journey has positively impacted her community, ensuring that her clients have the confidence to live their lives to the fullest and at their own pace. She emphasises “It’s not about complex itineraries, but about simple pleasures that most people take for granted; it’s having the freedom to say “I would like to…” and the confidence to say “Yes, let’s do it!”

Community Matters

The impact Driving Miss Daisy has had on the community has been profound. Louise recounts her experiences with her first clients, Joan and Fred, and many others she has helped since.

“When I first started my business, I received a request to take an elderly couple to be with their family for Christmas. The couple, who usually took turns driving, were worried because one of them was feeling unwell and didn’t think they could handle the drive. I was glad to help and drove them for 3 hours so they could spend Christmas with their loved ones. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been able to go at all.”

“Without the trust and confidence I have received from all my new customers over the past year, I would not have reached this one-year milestone!”
